Now, when the party has taken its way back to Zuberoa and the valley has appeased, I am again giving a lesson that I cannot take from my head: that we have picked up what we have sown.A
year ago we started to think that watching the Masked Games can be nice and above all live. And we started to sow, to work. Without haste, by forgetting as little as possible the aspects or aspects, we started to bring people together and formed a working group. How many contemporary concepts we have lived in total normality: collaboration between different ages – among the youngest who has participated there is a sangria of more than 50 years – transmission, Basque, Basque, Basque Country, meeting of various artistic disciplines, constancy, work between municipalities, child labor in the schools of the valley, music, singing, bertso, dance course, auzogintza, herrigintza, etc.
And we have not acted for ourselves! So the first idea is to offer. It would be a real pleasure to make available to all the people of Euskal Herria the organizational process that the valley of Aiztondo has undergone. Nobody would regret it. Muskildi is ready for the next season! The
Arizale group arrived last Saturday and after staying they were welcomed. Taking advantage of the elegance and aesthetics of the masquerade, very humbly, they were thankful for the visit of the assistants’ hand. Then we walked down the street singing, singing and dancing with the sun. We had dinner on the fronton of Asteasu, we sang and we danced a lot, and it seems that nobody knows when the night ended.
On Sunday morning we had barricades. In the four villages, Aduna, Alkiza, Asteasu and Zizurkil, the people there taught us the work of the recitals. Young people and adults from the villages shared very nice pieces: fandango and arin-arin, goodbye – dancing and singing –, Santa Ageda traces of tradition, dances of foxes, verses of Xorrotxas and answers of those from here… And behind, the sun shone with its clothes, the performances of the pioneers; the best red mask dancers! The last barricade took place in Zizurkil and following the tradition was the game of the marexales. Since it could not be otherwise, the morning was between food and drink.
In the afternoon there were trades in Larraul Square, the summit of the days of Maskarada. The Zuberoos were glad to have listened carefully to the bohemian and cauterus inheritances. The large cabal gave an air of exquisite tenderness to the memories of the valley. They have robbed the bell of the church of Zizurkil, the mayor of Larraul has opened trade in another town in the valley, the Fagus Center that has opened in Alkiza, the path of the lizard of
Asteasu… And so it ended the weekend. Then they entered the bus and they inside danced the last song and the last dance until we saw that the bus was lost by Aiztondo.
