The U.S. Marxist critic accuses Frederic Jameson of a significant phrase: “It’s easier to imagine the end of the world than capitalism.” There is no reason for it. Where is the bleeding? Nor has it been lacking in the presence of the strongest enemies, who have suffered a harsh setback. We've met many anti-capitalist theorists and revolutionaries. At the beginning, artisans rose up against machinism, but then the trade unionist workers we've met all over the world, not forgetting women, indigenous and national movements, have sought the end of capitalism all over the planet.

The socialist revolutions of the twentieth century, especially those carried out by the Bolsheviks a century ago, have not been able to overcome capitalism and, with the exception of two or three countries, capitalism continues with its crises in all others. I believe that the “resilience” of capitalism has found its end at the ecosystem borders.

According to eco-feminist friend Yayo Herrero, the crisis we are experiencing is not only economic or ecological, but we are facing a civilizing crisis (see The Great Crossroads). From an ecological point of view, in the twenty-first century, we see two main causes of the dynamic or crisis: climate change (global warming, ocean acidification, ecosystem and social disasters) and the oil summit (half of the oil that was on earth burned, the times of cheap energy have ended).

Once the slogan of sustainable development has been exhausted, ecotourism or the green economy have just been invented. By making nature and its cycles a new capital, including nature’s ecosystem processes in financing and trade dynamics, they have announced the solution of the ecological crisis. Not, as so far, thanks to the free trade in energy and materials, but to the assumption of CO2 emissions and the risks of climate change, placing in invisible hands the services of forests and forests and other “services” of nature, will overcome the ecological/economic crisis, according to the green capitalists.

On the contrary, the Belgian trade unionist Daniel Tanuro (The Impossible Green Capitalism) has highlighted the contradictions created by ecocapitalism. If the main objective is the accumulation of profits and the growth of production, the climate crisis will accelerate. It says that to lower global warming, we need less production and more local. And I think of Petronor, the incinerators and the TAV projects. Capitalist cat, please don't sell like an ecologist hare!
