A friend, when I thanked him for being a reader, told me why he didn't write about things "of the earth" and not about abstract ideas. I've always believed that I've reflected on the earth, but, well, I assured him that I'd try to get down to reality. Reality. Oh my God!

For example, I have to acknowledge that I do not know much about the United States today, and that what I know is taken from the mainstream media. Their strength in society is so great that we build reality in their own way. Of the thousands and thousands of events that take place in the world, they only choose, supposedly important, and upon them they build us in a day-to-day way, a vision of the environment.

It is clear what we want to underline and discuss it, we think, but many more things, those that rob us, we do not know them, do not exist, until they take them out to us when it suits them. In that, too, the powerful elites who own the media submit to us.

During the U.S. election campaign, those media outlets, both liberal and social democrats, have explained to us the reality that was right for them, the supposed fight between Clinton and Trump, which he has described as very satisfying. Trump was said to be racist, machista, anti-refugees, half-fascist and shamefully crazy; Clinton, on the contrary, a reasonable woman who could be the first president of the United States, in honor of feminism.

If Trump wins, we've been told insistently, he's going to throw out all the South Americans, he's going to raise a wall in Mexico, the Muslims won't be able to enter the United States, the economy will sink, etc. And every day we've been taught some stupidity of the candidate, some disgusting phrase, or some shameful anecdote of a long time ago.

The whole of Europe, we've been told over and over again, is on the side of Clinton. How crazy the Americans are and how sensible the Europeans are! And it's true that many of those who feel left have also done so for Hillary: “If Clinton, being the two poor, goes wrong!” they said, forgetting everything he did.

So when we know that Trump has won, all with his mouth open: How can millions of workers vote insane? What reality have we been built for months and what have these media hidden from us?

And now they come to Europe, they have already begun to say that the right-wing voters will be better than the ultra-right voters, both in France and in Germany, and everywhere else. They want us to believe that the best way to overcome the crisis is to give voice to those who have caused it. In the meantime, where is the left? Out of reality. Offside. Offside. OFF.
