We cannot deny that the consumption of what small local producers offer us brings life to our valleys and villages. The cooperative Irati Produkzioak, located in Aezkoa (Navarra), was created to promote this path.
The cooperative has a local in Orbara. They have a bar and restaurant service and a store where to sell their products. In addition to the two contracted working partners, the cooperative operates with contributions from other partners: the partner partners supporting the project are the self-employed farmers/farmers partners of the services and consumer partners. The latter can use the kitchen of the cooperative for the transformation of their products. This work allows producers to market these products with their own health licence and stamp.
Chess of Irati
This is the hallmark that the cooperative has promoted to promote the products of the Navarre Pyrenees: Chess of Irati. The brand brings together agri-food products and artisans produced in the valleys of Aezkoa, Erro, Arce and Valcarlos.
Beyond the protection of local products, the drivers see in the project a commitment to life in these valleys. “There is the possibility of living in these villages, working on them and not just sleeping.” The members of the cooperative say that the doors are also open to tourism, as so far there has been hardly a supply of local products in an area of great tourist influx.

The cooperative Irati Produkzioak was one of the projects selected in the program “Working and living in the Basque Pyrenees” of Udalbiltza. The idea of the company for food processing was already at the head of several neighbors, but the financial support given to them by the program was the necessary impetus to turn it into a project.
