Innocent
They say that journalists are concerned about the presumption of innocence. When in the past the arrests and raids were the bread of every day, the journalists were not very concerned about mounting the images. On the contrary, at a time when judicial information was scarcely available, television issued ten sentences for every thousand detainees and eleven were arrested in each of the dismissals. The faces of the detainees could be read in their clear faces, with the name and surname in writing. Locked up as usual, as if it were the fault of everything.
Then, punishment without trial led us inexorably to claim the right to a fair trial. Today, institutional justice has devoured all areas. Everything has become a verdict, a cost-effective raw material for the trial. And as in every pendulum, in many professions the regulation of work has been called for, in order to immediately denounce the abuse of regulation and the lack of freedom. Intimidated by the fear of being accused or tried, doctors are frightened of healing, teachers and school teachers of children. Journalism.
Over and above moral responsibility, criminal responsibility has prevailed. Hence the almost obsessive concern of journalists about the presumption of innocence. A veteran editor told the media fellows: “You never say that this or that has happened. Put everything in someone else’s mouth, say that this or that has been said to have happened this or the other.” The journalist misunderstood that the sources had to be admitted in the information. No -- nobody has done anything. “I haven’t been,” “I haven’t done,” “I don’t know,” “I haven’t seen anything.” It is not a question of hunting witches, but everyone has to bear their own baton n.Ha when the time comes to look at obligations when they collide rights (intimacy, privatization, reputation,
presumption of innocence, transparent information...). Or do obligations not collide? It is well known that the media have conducted parallel trials, that media convictions are simple.
Who is to blame for the scenario of uncertainty that has just attracted the elections? The voters, the candidates, the system? Who is to blame for the earthquake in Italy? The seismologists, the politicians, the builders? Is it an alleged earthquake if it's an attack? Could you make choices? If in journalism the presumption of innocence makes everything “supposed” and “possible”, the time has come to remember that the assumptions are half-corrupt. And the journalistic sense, commitment and honesty.
