There are books that deal with a subject from the description, there are books to reflect that are lost in the foundations of philosophy and, finally, there are books to feel. I have always thought of the rope of these those of Peru Magdalena. Berriz's does not speak in vain, does not paint meaningless, does not wear an unfounded suit. His artistic work, his travels, the sweet things of life -- they're all the way to an aesthetic and even ascetical quest, and poetry, inevitably, the instrument of the soul. If when I read emptiness (Elkar, 2008) I found it beautiful in a sacred sense, I say the same thing that when I made a critique with Argia, that is, this book has the ability to feel thoughtful and, at the same time, emotional, it has the quality of ethereal: “Look at the stars in the pure night/ look at the freckles of your skin/ the patterns repeating the universe/ I sleep looking at the same beauty.”
Also interesting are those about poetic creation, especially in the first news of the book, linking the aesthetic concern we have mentioned above with the meaning: “my poetry/ would like to do what points/ would leave the empty word container/ would leave the book that is going to be amarefied and will be broken/ and would continue as an indescribable tremor, living/ resonating between a few speakers// is a magical dream that I cannot catch with words and concepts/ is my poetry/ the smell of the skin of a rider/ a restless dream that I cannot remember with sweat.”
This poetic echo, which begins with the images of childhood and ends in a burnt white light that merges with reality, is Magdalena’s most extraordinary contribution. It is a poetic way of healing and strengthening the spirit, cult but subtle, which can resemble meditation and prayer every moment. It's a surprisingly smooth, light and funny book. Let's say, therefore, that if it's open, it brings a message that has no mystery, like life itself: it seems big, it's a river that, if it stops thinking and lives like a party.
And in this brief critique, in which we ask him strictly to capture and read the Light, all that we have explained seems to go out without noticing Peru Magdalena, is the sign of the elaboration and synthesis of what is proper to him.
