The little we are in our country when it comes to accepting criticism, and if we put the prefix “auto”, they are still worse. Whether you look right or left, it doesn't matter. Like in India, there are things that are untouchable among us. And apparently, ETB is one of them.
A few days ago I was meeting at the EITB headquarters in Bilbao. I will keep it for me. Here's what I had to listen to in connection with an article on hearings recently published by the newspaper Berria: “The truth is, if you closed that newspaper, I did the same.” Or something like that.
It is terrible that after living with Egunkaria, we have to listen to pearls like this. And that said in the face. Let's know how they're going to throw in the crew. I wanted to say it, I would also like to see ETB closed. Instead, I told her I had to write an article for ARGIA. Because I still feel ETB as what should be ours, everybody's. But tell me, if ETB were to close, how many people would actually go to the demonstration against the lockdown, if it were organized?
Any company should close with these numbers. I think we are not entirely aware that it is a company
that keeps with our money.
And if we are, it doesn't
matter to us.
Our interlocutor was very lively and showed, among other things, a significant fact. 78% of the ETB budget is spent on maintaining the structure and the remaining 22% on own production. I'm in letters and the numbers aren't mine, but something tells me that in those percentages there's a terrible imbalance. Any company should close with these numbers. I think we are not entirely aware that it is a company that keeps with our money. And if we are, it doesn't matter to us.
This morning, meeting with a writer and producer to talk about his work, a fundamental theme emerged: ETB. One of the two, I won't say who, he said: “What do you need ETB 1,000 people (around) for? Half of them should go to the street.” Or something like that. The same motto that has long been heard in small groups. And then he adds: “But if we said that, they would say that we are gross neoliberals.”
Our interlocutor, ETB’s, thinks the same, as many others in Euskal Herria, but he has the unions as an excuse to do nothing.
I think it is time to question the television model we have. More than thirty years have passed since birth, and it may be “convenient” to rethink what is done and what is done to be well and remain the same. In other words, it is necessary to be critical, even if the doors of the offices of the large residences are closed forever.
