In recent years, however, new technologies have opened thousands of small windows in almost all areas of life and, in addition, through social networks. The following lines indicate the applications and areas that can be used on the mountain, on the bicycle, at sea and in other leisure areas. Geolocation is the basis of many of them. In any case, some of the mountaineers using these tools are already warning that the risk of spending more time looking at the screen that the environment is increasing.
Wikiloc, millions of routes
It shares routes for outdoor activities or sports, all with geolocation. They are mountain tours, natural spaces or on the road, which can be carried out on foot, running, by bicycle, skiing, racket or motorbike. Almost 2 million people share more than 4.5 million routes and 7 million photos worldwide. It is built on Google Maps or Open Street Map and you can equip a route with the GPS markings you want, adding images that serve at the same time as a bait or that help the route.
Orux Maps, without internet
It's another app to walk on maps with GPS and make our routes. One of its most important features is that it can also be used off-line, that is, you don't need internet connection to work with it, so many call it mountaineer GPS. Its greatest limitation, however, is simple, at least on the mountain: that it works with battery and that it runs out; obviously, but very much to bear in mind, especially when you have to make days on the mountain.

Although the opposite is sold, the world of technology is not always round. For example, many users have complained about the problems the Android system usually has with GPS connections. Well, there are also solutions to this, for example, with GPS Status. This app, basically, allows a faster connection to the GPS. In addition, it has tools such as the compass, levellers or the ability to share our position.
Layar, augmented reality
In the past, this application has always been linked to the future, especially through cinema, but for years it has been the current one, but in the last two or three years it has been spreading a lot. Basically, it “increases” reality, that is, it offers us the virtual information that takes that place when we are focusing something with our mobiles – phones, tablets…. It overlays two already worked images that we're collecting, and it shows us all the virtual information that that image or place has before.
Alpify, safety
Little is played with this app, but it is better to download it to increase user safety. Even without Internet connection, read the phone's coordinates and is connected to 112 or other emergency services. Its use is simple, have the Smartphone app and GPS enabled and give the red button in case of emergency. Better if you don't have to use it, but just in case it's essential to carry it over.
Strava for riders and cyclists
Like so many others, this app shares routes. Users highlight two characteristics: on the one hand, the ease of making and sharing routes and, on the other hand, the possibility of measuring competition. It collects with great precision the times and yields obtained and allows to compare them with those of others, giving the possibility to complete rankings. Seeing the current competition with oneself or others in these sports, your success in these worlds is better understood.
