The change in Navarre, which is often going to end the year, is clear that the change around the Basque country is not going to be easy. It is undeniable that significant and very important steps have been taken, and it is possible that you have not realised the importance of some of these changes (setting up a school centre for model D in Sarriguren, for example), but at the same time, the last few months have taught us very well that there is no majority in Parliament to go further; for example, to change the law of the Basque Country. In other words, the forces that have spoken out in favour of change are not prepared to change the law, and that is evident on the Left, but also in a sector of Podemos. After all, they show the same attitudes that are observed among those who voted for these forces; that is, many citizens who voted in favour of change get nervous as they put the Basque issue on the table and question all the measures proposed in favour of the Basque country. The point is that we need people like this to move forward, but at the same time they condition everything, that is, they say how far. And, for example, some sector of change has been behind the speeches so restored as painful that they have been organized around the Basque Country, as well as the mobilizations that have taken place in the street against the Basque country.

Thus, the world of the Basque Country in Navarre has decided to go out to the streets to support the measures taken so far, but at the same time to ask for bolder measures so that “the change in Navarre will come from the Basque country”. Other proposals within Basque cultural activity have been discussed in order to assert official status above all, but for well-defined reasons it has been decided not to go down that path. First of all, on the subject of the law, all Basque cultural activity should, moreover, be tackled jointly, the path would be unsuccessful: firstly, internal work should be done between the actors (which law) and, secondly, with those who have the key in Parliament, that is, with the Left and We. Otherwise, if it does not convince these two forces, it is a party. In the meantime, 11 effective measures can be taken within the current legal framework to advance, for example, in improving the situation of Euskaltegis and Basque local media. And also, once and for all, it should start working on a renewed speech that will allow us to face the strong movement against the Basque Country, to attract non-Basque citizens who say they are in favour of change.
