We have recently seen the consequences of the war in the world, particularly in Syria, but also in Europe, where thousands of refugees are coming. On the other hand, there are the bloody attacks in France and Belgium in recent years. These attacks in Europe have a great impact on the media, because they affect Europe’s citizens more closely. We are far less affected by the refugees arriving at our borders, although four million are already fleeing the war in Syria. Needless to say, of the 250,000 deaths due to the long Syrian conflict that are so far away in the distance and that television shows us not.

The Pope himself has denounced that there are smuggling weapons behind the attacks at the airport and on the Brussels metro: “They want blood and not peace, war and not fraternity.” Needless to say, behind the Syrian war, those arms traffickers are doing business for them, just like behind all the wars that the United States is in. USA, Russia and Europe are involved.

Global military spending in 2014 stood at almost $2 trillion, representing 2.4% of global gross domestic product (GDP). The average expenditure on arms per person per year is EUR 248. Eight of the world’s ten largest arms companies are in the United States. Each year there are profits of US$ 23 billion. In 2014, the Spanish State exported $3.2 billion in arms, an increase of 4.1%. Most of that arms production goes to Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya and Yemen, as well as to countries such as Israel and Saudi Arabia, among others. Therefore, let us not forget: The current conflict in Syria is also a big business for the capital, as behind there is an arms industry.
