The managers of the Honduran hydroelectric project Agua Zarca used the motto “Rivers are not sold, conserved and defended” as evidence to prosecute Berta Cáceres and two other activists for inciting violence.
In 2014, Berta Cáceres reported her situation in Pikara magazine. It describes the attempts to manipulate and criminalize the State, Army and companies of Honduras. Berta was shot dead a few weeks ago. His family and friends are clear that it was a political crime of the Government.
"Long live Honduras! Spanish Defense Minister Federico Trillo screamed in 2004 when Salvadoran troops were being fired. This mistake, it was said, meant a lack of respect and interest towards the Central Americans. Who cares about Honduras or El Salvador? What do we know about these peoples? There's a lot of violence. When I first went to Nicaragua, my family worried because it was a very dangerous country. “No, Nicaragua is quiet, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras are dangerous,” I said. We laugh at the Americans because they think they confuse Mexico with Spain, but for us too Nicaragua, Honduras or El Salvador are the same. What ideas come to mind? Guerrillas, poverty, organized crime.
In 2009, the United States supported the coup d'état that killed Honduras. Governments and institutions that defend sovereignty have always been enemies of the United States. When I heard about the murder of Berta Cáceres, I turned to Twitter and, among other things, asked whether Felipe González intended to go to Honduras to meet with the dissent there. We can bring to the Spanish Parliament the denunciation of the murder of Berta Cáceres. Ada Colau participated in grieving actions. EH Bildu condemned crime through social media. Just in case, I wrote on Google “PSOE Berta Cáceres”. I didn't find anything. Nor when I write “PNV Berta Cáceres”. The friends (or servers) of the multinationals only talk about dissent when they try to delegitimize leftist initiatives.
On the other hand, in the social movements of the Basque Country and the State, Berta Cáceres is still alive. The manifesto of 8 March in Bilbao was more internationalist than ever before. The feminists express our solidarity with the refugees, we condemn the xenophobic Europe, we remember the Kurds killed by the Turkish police and Berta Cáceres.
He explained that the defense of rivers and forests is anti-capitalist, anti-colonialist and anti-patriarchal. Militarization involves control and violence over the bodies of nature, indigenous peoples and the mujeres.En Pikara reported that threats against himself had a sexual character. And when indigenous women explained the spiritual importance of the rivers, in which the spirits of the girls live in the water, they encountered the mockery of patriarchal and racist power.
Idurre Eskisabel states that the strategy of capitalism is to create a complex network of multiple oppression. Beyond the double militancy of some individuals, I notice a great compartmentalization of the struggles. We find it difficult to join forces between fracking, evictions and fights against feminicide. The feminist discourses in Euskal Herria are absolutely anti-capitalist, but in political practice we still lack steps to materialize this idea of intersectionality of the struggles. That can be the legacy of Berta Cáceres.

In February 2023, I read the news in the press and I was depressed because it surprised me and gave me what to think. The store of Jostaldi Kirolak Erdikale Street in Azpeitia will be closed to the public after 48 years of running.
That made me travel in time. I'd been there... [+]

When we woke up, culturally and administratively, the landscape showed a three-speed disaster.
As far as culture is concerned, I had the opportunity – once again – to confirm this last November 14 at the Mint library in Ortzaize. There we met because Eñaut Etxamendi... [+]

The world has also done so, because it is a symbol, because in history more genocides have already been done and will be done (bad luck, hear, it has touched you to be born there), but Palestine has special characteristics:
They appeared, as usual, through the hut, parked in the center of the passage, in herbs and encharcations so as not to dirty the mills, and went through the road, tracing, to the porch, with a large dish in the hand. As usual, the bûche was ready. In French bûche it can be a... [+]

I've done a quick analysis of the technology forecasts for 2025. Like every year, when you talk about what technology is going to bring to the media in 2025, the discourse is very similar. Many of us who write about technology have the anxiety of knowing more than it's going to... [+]
