Life, death, love and literature are the main axes of this book. Pagan God is behind the pages taking away and bringing to life his beloved, X. Here is the renewed tension between Eros and Thanatos, which has appeared to us so many times in Western culture.
On the front page, the protagonist offers us his heart, or the heart of X, from where he looks. On the one hand, he gets naked through autobiographical narration, shows us the desires and monsters of the interior. On the other hand, he tells us about his beloved, expressing with terrible pain what it would be to lose him.
In this work we are offered the possibility to reflect on how we face death, what the loss of what we love means, how the process of mourning is, how to do abandonment or the management of loneliness. And at the same time, it questions the kinds of relationships that we have today, pushing all the way through catastrophic fantasies. Thinking, imagining, we can go crazy, get obsessed, end jealousy. What is love? How do we live it? What do we give them? Fatigue, guilt, disgust, fear, darkness, dependency, submission, self-annulment, suffering... Isn't it?
The protagonist who experiences love as passion and obsession refers to two writers: Marguerite Durás and Annie Ernaux, and especially implicitly, recognize her Lover and her Pure Passion as a source and inspiration, because from these works she tells us in this book what it means to “love passionately” for her. In addition, with the death of his beloved, the “immortality of love” is also questioned, which means “a myth of romantic love” for those who want it.
The book needs 70 sheets, not 700, to put the quoted ones on the table in a dense and juicy way. But that's not only what we'll find, but also what the author expects about writing. For him is to liberate the internal, to fictionalize life, to perform a self-analysis turned into literature. In this way, it joins the fears and ghosts of others, by feeling the need to write about the wounds of life, does it and puts it on paper approaching the reader, making an initial “declaration of intent” of a recently published writer.
