Incarnating who we are: that branch that comes out of our head
- If you ask us to draw the body, you would imagine yourself without a head. Western cultures brought us this war a long time ago: head vs body. The tendency to divide a whole into two. Consumer and competitive culture. This is explained by the sexologist Clara Wolfram. What is the vision of the body? In Euskera we also speak of “ourselves”.
“In the Jewish and Christian religions, the brain is the prestigious man and the body is the error,” Wolfram tells us. This way of understanding the body influences the person in very different ways, as it leads him to have no control over him. The brain plays a fundamental role in this. Introspective noises; generated by society and by oneself. Looking at the body with erroneous eyes generates negative thoughts and vice versa. “We have the worst enemy inside,” says Wolfram, “I have to accept who I am and become an ally of my body.” But rational and sentimental intelligence is separated and positioned at different levels. Within this dichotomy, he has underlined the importance of achieving integrity, as there is no brain without body or body without brain. Thanks to our brains, we feel and love, we reflect, we dream and we move and we materialize our bodies. “Words like psychosomatic and psycho-affective are invented to talk about sensations, but we forget that we are a body.”
We have the habit of not listening to the body. As Wolfram says, it would be impossible to live at a rate like the one we live in. And it is that the rhythm of life, education, feeding, emotions, body expression, sleep, skin, sexuality, senses, voice… and other factors influence the body. Clara encourages you to look for rituals to love the mind and body. From now on, we will speak in this section of understanding the body and health and the capacities of each to become or become a sovereign being.
