In the EiTB App, among the usual polemics and news of mistreatment among politicians, I read that 60% of Navarros do not use contraception in their first sexual intercourse. And that the data from the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country are similar. Aja. I thought it was a lot. I confess, I thought it was a little too much. Then I thought it would be a question of generational perspective. After all, it's been a few years since our first sexual encounter... Or was it because I've been out of Euskal Herria for so many years, where he gave me the data?

Since I have not forgotten the subject, and 1 December is the international AIDS day, I have decided to search the net. I wanted to compare it. Mania of someone who lives in Berlin but who lives his head in two places... The study shows that 92 per cent of young Germans used contraceptive methods in 2010. Most of them are condoms. I know that in the statistics we have to look at many elements and not all the answers will be true. But the difference is considerable. Imagine that only 8% of those who didn't use anything! Of these, 60 per cent claimed that the situation was too spontaneous. The young people of the Basque Country refer above all to drugs and alcohol as one of the main reasons for this. But (it's my impression here) Basque Country and drugs, that's another taboo.

Experts say that the problem is not the lack of information for young people. No, probably not. The problem needs a more anthropological explanation than the aspect I bring here. I am led by the visibility of preventive campaigns. I haven't lived in Euskal Herria for years, and it's not going to be strange that you don't know the Osakidetza posters from 2008 and 2013. Posters were disseminated in health centers, pharmacies and the public network, among other means. When I am there, however, I am more dedicated to the Bilbao Metro, and the advertising of credits for the purchase of homes or cars has, above all, been passed on to me by my eyes.

During the years of my arrival in Berlin, the AIDS prevention campaigns showed colorful condoms against the white background: pink goggles for the lovers and the blue balloon for the world's walkers. Every year, the new campaign goes out to the streets. And writing to the street, to the streets, to the public space. We've seen the condoms picking cucumbers, mazorcas and mazorcas. Spaces for sex: a romantic room with fireplaces for those who wanted to play with fire, a young man's chaotic room, a semi-detached pier next to a lake. From 2012 onwards people appear, explaining what kind of sex they practice. Those who make it friendly, classic, comfortable, without shame, simple, spontaneous, safe... This year's slogans: I do it with latex. I do so with experience. I do it with the right person. I do it with my husband. I do it with my heartbeat. I do this by lowering my pants. I do it with the gynecologist. The messages on the main slogans refer to aspects such as other sexually transmitted diseases, and the importance of talking about them with the partner and going to the doctor. More than 65,000 external advertising media have been received this year in exchange for money.

As can be read on Osakidetza’s website, “following the social austerity of the current context, the most expensive aspect of dissemination was discarded; the hiring of external advertising media”. I conclude that the crisis affects even the most intimate relations of the young Basques.
