From Baiona to Bilbao: few people could expect that what was seen in Baiona on 6 October 2013 could be repeated two years later in Bilbao on 24 October 2015. I wrote myself in ARGIA: “I am convinced that from now on Alternative Day will be a political reference for the left of the French State, as the work done and the results achieved have been exemplary. I am not so sure that this achievement is analogous in our South. Maleruski, in our political culture, it is not normal that in the face of a common cause, such as climate change, so many different people come together, above acronyms and origins. This is not achieved in a short time, it is the result of solid and long work.” It has already been enough two years to bring together thousands of people in the Old Town of Bilbao in the debate, in the workshops, on the walk between txosnas and tents or in the dance if the witness is taken to the Charter of Social Rights of Euskal Herria. How have the ecologists of Iparralde “contaminated” us with their working methods and tools? That's the key to success.

In San Sebastian, Zoko and Donibane Garazi: The poison has come in small doses. Previously there have been villages of other alternatives. In Donostia-San Sebastian and Zoko on 6 June two pills, and in Donibane Garazi on 10 October another. It has been done. What we dreamed of has come true. We wrote two years earlier. “As in the streets of Baiona Ttipi, the repetition of the Alternatiba days in other towns and cities of Euskal Herria would be a firm step in favor of that other possible world. That’s it!” We now know that trade unionists and local businesses, young feminists and retirees, ecologists and antimilitarists can join alternative economists, in favour of growth, fans of the Basque Country, bertsolaris and artists, even singers, if we transmit forms, messages and objectives horizontally and transparently, without hierarchy or priorities, in an enriching diversity.

Brings climate change: The problem of climate change was/is the initial excuse. It's a big problem, hard to tackle. What can a small village of three million people do in the face of this enormous challenge? In my opinion, the model that was put in place in Baiona is very valuable. Climate change is not only a problem for ecologists, but also a question mark for an entire civilization. It would be crazy to think that we are dealing with a technological problem and that the solution is in the hands of scientists. As has been made clear in our debates, the alternative does not come from a single thread, we need different yarns, colors and seams to maintain the capitalist and patriarchal climate and energy crisis.
