On the eve of Light Day to be held in Oñati on 20 September, through the collaboration of EHE and Argia de Arrasate, Txiki de la Luz Day was celebrated on 11 September. In Arrasate/Mondragon there has been occasion for reflection, game and party. Among other things, they have used the Argia Eguna Txikia to share the situation experienced by different groups in the construction of a people.
The day began with a colloquium between the associations. On construction and popular organization: How do we carry our homes? They talked about it. As far as the popular movement is concerned, Arrasate is a very active people, and thus, among others, the members of the following associations participated in the colloquium: AED, Txatxilipurdi, Gaztetxe de Arrasate, AEK, Emun, EHE de Arrasate y Argia. Everyone explained how things were at home and told the challenges they face today. The exchange session was rich: It can be a starting point for learning, reflecting, and from now on, organizing other sessions or events together.
After the tertulia, they played at the Doke, a traditional game in the Arrasate area, and for the food they had a pintxos tasting with local products. In the evening, Imanol Epeld offered the Etxepare Rap concert in which hip-hop merged with the history of Basque literature. Four young people from Arrasate also joined the Jai Zala stage to interpret the versions. To end the day, DJ Elvis brought dancing melodies to Txiki Day of Light.
The possibility of collaboration arose when the members of Argia went to Mondragón to make the project known. “The philosophy of light is similar in one sense, we share the desire to work with agents working in the construction of a country,” explains Mikel Makazaga of EHE.
