There are general elections on the horizon, and they seem to be very special elections, which are not going to be the same. Some have talked about the “second transition”, in order to define the political climate that we have experienced in recent years. The name may be exaggerated, although it must be acknowledged that there is some of it, because many believe that it will be necessary to “open the melon”. To put it in more ordinary words: it is too much to talk about a constituent process, but everyone knows that it is very likely that it will have to touch, change, reform the 1978 Constitution. For more than one reason, but above all, whatever happens, because nothing will be the same as from 27 September.

In this regard, everyone is preparing their strategy, knowing that the elections now being held will be in place in the medium-long term. What's called half-long politics and knowing that things can accelerate, but, for example, 78 has given it for 37 years.

Thus, PP-UPN has announced the withdrawal of the fourth transitional period and the adoption of other measures to increase centralism in the Basque Country. The PSOE has rescued the word federalism in order to use it apparently as guardasola, and the PNV, as usual, says of everything, who: on this occasion Ortuzar has had to extend the Abertzale version in favor of the right to decide, and Urkullu has the “realistic-pragmatic” version: the reform of the statute, always looking back at the PSOE.

There are many unknowns in the air and everyone is attentive to what is going to happen in the elections. So, what can we expect from the advocates of real change and the right to decide?

Those of us who were in favour of what we called democratic breakdown in the Transition could have another chance, coinciding with younger generations who have realized that the seamless transition has been a fraud. On three clear axes: the right to decide (first of all, when are we going to decide something about the Navarros that we have never decided on our status? ), against the neoliberal, austerity and inequality economic policy, and for peaceful coexistence and fair reparation for the victims.

Now there are no excuses for the transition (correlation of forces, army, violence...).
