A level higher
We have to bring the dynamic to the benefit of the Basque country a little further up in the coming years. To spend a lot of time at this level that we're doing is going back. What is it up to?
The Basque Country has seen a marked improvement in some areas, but not in society as a whole. As a pyramid, we could accumulate the Basque fields, the most successful at the base and the least developed at the top. At the lower level we could mention, for example, the dissemination of knowledge, the flourishing of Basque literature, the Euskaldunization of education, the formation of the Basque language both citizen and institutional, and a few more. From this level of the pyramid, areas or dimensions would be increasingly weaker for the Basque Country, such as daily use, the media or ICT, cultural consumption, the world of work, etc. The most critical point, and therefore, the vertex of this false pyramid, is the organization of leadership and strategy.
The social movement and the general government departments of the Basque Country have set out and implemented the guidelines to improve the status of the language. But everyone has acted on their own, not in collaboration. The geographic areas worked and the strategies are different according to the agents and between the political parties and the ideologies that represent them. Sometimes the Basque in the mouth, but with the interest of oneself in the head. Understandable, but not adequate.
In any case, only those who have some kind of relationship or direct work with the Basque Country have participated. The fact that most social workers have not been concerned about the Basque country has been a big deficit. Those who have made a gesture in this regard have also done so for one-off actions. It seems that the Basque language is not of interest to the whole of society, as if the language were not that of everyone and for everyone. What happens is that if society does not embrace the Basque people, the Basque people will not be aware of society.
Overcome current leadership and fragmented partial strategies and achieve the involvement of most social agents. To do this, it is necessary to implement a new dynamic that integrates and coordinates all those who are: economic, cultural, civic, political, institutional, academic... The level to rise, therefore, is that of leadership and strategy. This will allow the Basque country to increase as well.
