Welcome to Dantzert!
In September it will open its doors Dantzerti, the Basque School of Dramatic Art and Dance. Dancers and playwrights, we're happy, we don't notice, but we're happy.
About ten years ago, the platform for the Higher Performing Arts School was created. In these ten years, together with the claim, the platform has made available to the institutions the knowledge and experience of the sector. Without that, I do not believe that Dantzerti was set in motion. The platform has been the spur and the push, which has kept the project alive when politicians had other priorities and which has helped the institutions throughout their journey. Now, once the project has entered its final straight line, the Basque Government has realised that it no longer needs the platform and has abandoned it.
The Department of Education has taken the opportunity to ask the members of the platform to prepare the draft curricula, to carry out urgent work free of charge and then, without giving a minimum courtesy response, to appear copies of dance studies in Madrid. For the selection of faculty, the platform asked for a face-to-face test, in addition to the resume, because having good theorists does not guarantee the knowledge of the scene. In no case will in-person tests be carried out on teachers. The possibility of a partial enrollment was requested so that the people who work can access the studies. Nor has the world aprobado.En there will be a
thousand centers that offer the possibility of performing higher dance studies. But around the world there is no school to learn Basque dance. Dantzerti will not give that opportunity either, at least in the first part, as there will be no option to learn the Basque dance on stage.
Dantzerti is held in Bilbao. The thing about Euskal Hiria was false. Durango or Tolosa are not Euskal Hiria. The Basque City is Bilbao. Under inadequate conditions and at a higher cost, the collection price will be in Bilbao. The Arriaga Conservatory for Music now has to adapt for dance and theater. Adaptation will be clumsy and there will also be no room for everyone. There were better options, there are centers that have all the infrastructure, including the theater, prepared, but no, they're not in Bilbao, and the school had to be done in Bilbao, I don't know who, when and why.
Basque theater and dance needed a school. We are not told, but we are happy. Welcome to Dantzert!
