It has been said on more than one occasion that in Euskal Herria and in particular in Gipuzkoa it does not dance, let alone young people. The exception is those groups of ska that are reproduced as mushrooms, but nothing is out of them. In 2010, they created the Anai Arrebak group, a pleasant surprise in the Basque landscape. In addition, we were very surprised to know who the project promoters were. The background to his resume is as follows: the imaginative Jousilouli group that turned around and half the metal; Naizroxa that took the toughest melodies to the limit; and Trigger Travis, who joined hardcore and punk rock, among others.
The group established from the very beginning a very clear goal: to put everybody to dance and give disco music the value and place it deserves. The mockup of the band was an explosion full of confessions and hostility. A powerful explosion of new-wave, post-punk and disco, vintage and at the same time innovative. Rockers making emergency disco music, as if there was no future.
The many concerts that followed served to mobilize the wars of drunk, abstemious, polydrug addicts, punky, poets, metalworkers and modern and, for the first time in a long time, help to liberate the bowels of many. Somehow, they gave color to these black and white times, and their strength was dedicated to dance. In 2012 they published their first long album, and apart from the styles united in the model, they also joined the soul, funk, pop and Latin rhythms proposal.
After working silently as usual in the Portugal Txiki study, they have now begun to present their second long work. They have striven to calm down the energy that the group has and have brought to light the pop they have inside, always with the intention of enchanting the listener in the world of rhythm and dance.
Every song has a lot of details, a lot of background work: there's a lot of instrumentation and repair work. Electronics, manufactured with stamp machines from the 1980s, are increasingly present in the quartet offering. Also in the realm of funky they move more and more comfortably, they take full advantage of the percussion and the approach to the album deserves a passage of their own: although many think that the album was born for them, I think they have come to change and revive the album.
Pop in the fluttering voices and melodies, black music on the carpet that makes us dance, electronics at that rate and push extra, rock in the DNA that you can't hide and the mystery of the components and of the night in the foals that are the ideal soundbands.
Some of those issues are the hits, which will catch you and chain you when you realize it. In addition, they know perfectly well that thanks to the roundabouts of the melodies, they will make it easier for us to get out on the track and to pack up sour and poisonous messages, born and raised in their habitat during the night.
