Creating biodegradable chips
Concerns about non-biodegradable waste are becoming increasingly widespread. Reuse or, in the worst case, biodegradability is what we are looking for more and more strongly, but so far the devices bearing chips have not met the conditions mentioned.
When we age electronics, we just have to take them to the collection points. Although some parts can be reused after dismantling, chips do not occur. The useless chips are accumulating exponentially, and soon we'll have a big problem.
To meet this challenge, Norway’s largest independent research laboratory, SYNTH, is creating components that will dispose of after use. Specifically, in a few hours magnesium elements have been placed on the sheets of lithium and dissolved in water. In this way, the electronic circuits printed on these chips could disappear and reuse the base of the chip.
