I've been very happy to see the new album from Borrokan, which has just been published by the Borrokan group. Because it's a very good job and it shows that the team is still in shape. I am gladly listening to your new pieces. The air and experimental sounds of hardcore, post-core, noise, rock, pop continue to mix with their usual vitality and strength.
The new album is a continuation of two previous feature films, but we have appreciated some more nuances compared to the previous ones. These shades enrich Borroka's melody and add new colors. You can say that Zuak's work is more direct, more rocker.
In the songs, the members of the group express their existential feelings, emotions, reflections and concerns: “The living ideas, the sound they produce when they collide with the walls of the head, cut off, instead of concentrating on the crying of the navel, do not tremble, do not stop me” (Now); “Nothing makes sense now. When is it? Zero” (When is it after? ); “We were robbed of weapons in our dream. Now we mock the servants of impotence. Old fires, plants” (Plants and walls), “Body, forgive me, body; do with me as you can” (Body), “I prefer to speak with stones rather than resist speakers” (Transporters Can’t).
The Borrokan team is from Bera (Navarra). Mikel Lertxundi (drums), Joseba Lertxundi (vocals), Iñaki Iratzoki (guitar), Ibai Gogortza (guitar, saxos and voices) and Iñigo Telletxea (bass) are the components of the group. Along with them, Maikel (recording), Xabier Erkizia (mixtures and post-production) and Marcello Liberato (mastering) complete Zuak’s work.
The group was formed in 1994. His first recordings were published in several collections. One of the first was Museum (Mer, 1998), together with Gutariko Bat, Dut or Lord No, and in 2002 they published their first long album by their own means (Borrokan). The same year they participated in the Bonberenea collection, along with Anari, Lisabö, Akauzazte and other groups. After a tour, they carried out several years of reflection and composition.
I would like to pay tribute to the second long work, which cannot be understood in words. Now! It was launched in 2007. The title itself can indicate the way the group understands music: importance of silences, rhythm changes, noise, blows, melodies and detail care. All of this, these sensations, intensify in their public actions.
In 2010, along with other groups such as Lisabö, Ruper Ordorika, Anari, Mursego, Jupiter Jon, Berri Txarrak and others, participated in the Txinaurriak album of versions of songs by Mikel Laboa, produced by the Bidehuts label, which made a version of the Inkomunikazio song. Then another time for tranquillity and music, and this year they have published the work Zuak, a beautiful work.
I recognize that it's one of my favorites in the fight. Twenty years ago they started playing, in these years they have only published three albums and have done nothing in public, and when they publish a album or I have the opportunity to attend one of their performances, I am happy, because I am very happy listening to the songs of Borroka, immersed in the special environments that the group creates.
Irene Coulon’s talk about sleeping beauty and the image of incineration has been the main theme of this year’s Feministaldia. He has torn apart the cultural ideas of sleep, making it clear that we also have masculinized sleep. Many of the (cultural) lessons of sleep are... [+]
On the Internet comes the title of a movie that I still saw when I was growing up looking for the word Willow. In this fantasy film, the protagonist, a small man named Willow, transformed the world by liberating its inhabitants from an oppressive kingdom. Google just launched a... [+]
Araia told me to write to you. He told me that before I leave them (I will do this this year), they want to take you a text of mine, which I have never taken you, and that you deserve, that you will be proud of me. Such an opportunity cannot be missed. I don't know what I can... [+]
I have recently had the opportunity to see the latest work by Pierre Carles, a committed documentary author. Under the name of Guérilla des FARC, l'avenir a une histoire (FARC guerrilla, the future has history), proposes a renewed account of the armed conflict that has lasted... [+]
Entrepreneurship is fashionable. The concept has gained strength and has spread far beyond economic vocabulary. Just do it: do it no more. But let us not forget: the slogan comes from the propaganda world. Is the disguise of the word being active buyers? Today's entrepreneurs are... [+]
We're in chaos. That has been said to us by the French media, which Parliament has brought down the government on 4 December. The fear that political, institutional, social, economic chaos will rage us all in the horde of hell comes to our veins. What comedy we're going to play... [+]
In 2011, the powerful 15-M movement broke out, which put the Catalan Govern in a hurry. Among other things, on that occasion the Police ran into the indignant camp of the Plaza Cataluña de Barcelona and besieged the Parlament on the day that the activists had to approve the... [+]
