Why do I have to acquire a domain with the .eus extension? What influences the change to the new extension on my web, emails, etc. ?

The most frequently asked questions at the beginning of the century concerned the convenience of domains with the .com, .net, .edu or .org extension. In Hego Euskal Herria, at least in my environment, very few asked about the extension .es; among others, the contradiction between being Basque and using the extension .es, which evidenced the historical conflict. However, many administrations of Hego Euskal Herria chose the .es extension to add to their domain name. In Ipar Euskal Herria there was a similar process with the .fr extension.
Just 20 years after the socialisation of the Internet, hundreds of extensions can now be used. Administrations use the extensions of their respective countries, and although throughout the world companies prefer classic extensions such as .com, .net or similar, more and more countries are choosing a country, especially when they want to sell their products in the language of that country.

Many of the people who are obtaining the .eus extension in the Basque Country have the main reason to jump to .eus; but the consequences of the decision go beyond changing the domain: business cards, email, trademarks, location of technical sheets of market products and so many other characteristics. And that has a cost.

Therefore, if we proudly acquire .eus at first, we should immediately think about whether this brand is suitable for the activity of our organization. If we have our main sales channels abroad, our interest will depend on the strength that the brand “Basque country” can have; but if our activity is located above all in the Basque Country, the extension .eus can help us psychologically to make the customer’s perception of us more positive.
