A team of German and American researchers have discovered carbon molecules in the giant Sagittarius B2 gas cloud, located in the center of our galaxy. These molecules have their bases to form more complex molecules.
Carbon molecules found so far in space are shaped like a ball, meaning atoms are placed in a closed spherical structure, where it's very difficult to stick with other elements. On the contrary, the molecules discovered are now similar to the paw of a duck: they are open and other elements can be placed at their ends. This allows you to create more complex elements.
The finding reinforces the theory that the key to the origin of life is in areas with many stars.
