The works of the TAV in the Basque Country are once again in the centre of the vorágine. It is a project that is always in crisis, both in the Basque Country and in the Spanish and French States. Every day that passes, we find it a millionaire madness, corrupted, because there are suspicions that the overcosts have been high. In recent days we have known that public money has been misappropriated in the works of the TAV between Barcelona and Madrid, which could amount to EUR 6 million. One of the companies investigated in this corruption case is Corsan-Corvian, which also participates in the four parts of the “Basque Y”. The Government of Vitoria-Gasteiz, however, has washed its hands and said here that “the procedures have been complied with”. Of course. How they filled up there. But now that billionaire corruption has appeared.
EUR 2.2 billion has already been spent on the Basque territory. EUR 4 billion remains to be paid. The connection with Madrid is not guaranteed. The French Government has delayed until 2032 the works connecting with the TAV. Corruption cases are beginning to emerge.
Is it the tip of the iceberg? The jobs that have been created have been very precarious and have claimed the lives of many workers. Under no circumstances has the public been asked about this project. After all, we are on a blind road that leads nowhere. The best thing that political decision-makers can do is to paralyse the works, investigate and, where appropriate, punish corruption between managers and companies, and allocate those EUR 4 billion to respect the social and labour rights of the Basques, at a time when unemployment and cuts have brought poverty. And so, like Lemoiz, the TAV would be an ugly monument in tribute to wastage and political excesses.
In recent weeks we have been reading "proposals" for the recovery of the railway line Castec-Soria and the maintenance of the Tudela train station in its current location, or for the construction of a new high-speed station outside the urban area with the excuse of the supposed... [+]
We have been with the "summer snake" over the TAV for a few weeks and with the possibility of linking the "Basque Y" from Pamplona, from Ezkio or Vitoria.
It is disappointing to see that our People continue to depend on decisions concerned and not supported by the galgos and... [+]
In the spring of last year, in Sakana, in Izan and Goierri, flooding was introduced in the municipalities of these areas for the conduct of geological surveys for the works of the TAV. In the canyoning 15 surveys have been requested in the municipalities, from Erro to Olazti /... [+]
