Every inhabitant of the European Union uses an average of 200 plastic bags per year. According to various studies, the duration of use of a plastic bag is 25 minutes and the weight of the bags we consume each year is 750,000 tons, that is, 625,000 cars. It takes hundreds of years to recycle a bag. Paper only takes a few weeks and aluminum 100 years.
By 2019, the EU wants to achieve an 80% cut in the consumption of plastic bags. For this, it will take the example of Ireland as an example: in a few years, consumption per person has increased from 328 bags to twenty, applying tough tax rules.
