Bernardo Atxaga and Anari together, photographic projection of Nagore Legarreta accompanied by music and poetry, Rap Vasco de Imanol Epelde, literary route with Jose Inazio Ansorena by Donostia, lecture of Dolores Redondo, colloquium on Petros Márkaris and the black novel, microrrorrecounts of Ana Malagón. Once again they have brought together writers from here and there, but on this occasion, Basque creators will have the highest participation in history. In order to bring the writer and the reader closer together, coffee meetings have been organized for the first time. The photo developers are Jasone Osoro (EIE), Iñaki Gabarain (Donostia Kultura), Nerea Txapartegi (City Hall of Donostia) and Garazi López de Etxezarreta (Diputación Foral, Koldo Mitxelena).

Literaktum 2014 will start on 8 May and extend until 17 May. The cycle, organized by Donostia Kultura, is supported this year by many collaborators. The programme has been assisted by the Association of Basque Writers, the Music Park and the Koldo Mitxelena cultural center.

“Literaktum is a space for reflection and debate.” Nerea Txapartegi, head of Culture of the City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastián, says that it promotes critical thinking of the reader. In addition, it “opens the doors to various disciplines and materializes in many scenarios”. This meeting place on literature has other characteristics. “Despite the organization of Donostia Kultura, its objective is to do so in network, in collaboration with other groups, entities and agents.” The representative of the City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastian pointed out that “they
are the main symbols of this initiative”. “In the face of haste, improvisation and the rest presented by the new technologies, literature demands serenity and active attitude, and we have to know how to transmit all this to our young people. In this sense, Literaktum also serves to bring young people closer to literature in an attractive way.” Garazi López Etxezarreta, head of the Department of Culture of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, wishes to do so.

The book, “from house to street”

“This festival offers the possibility of getting the book out of the house,” says Jasone Osoro, president of the Association of Basque Writers. “Because in addition to the fairs, it offers the possibility of tasting literature with different senses, such as with the ears”. And that is, in this edition, Ana, Mursego or G. The Bassmatti singers will participate.
