London 1724. A General History of the Pirates, by Charles Johnson, is published. In it, the author collected four pirate codes, or at least snippets of code. These regulations served as evidence to punish pirates, so they were burned or killed at sea before their arrest. That's why the only specimens are those collected by Johnson. Each captain had his own regulations, but in general they regulated these codes in three areas: discipline, distribution of benefits and compensation to the injured. Although in literature and in movies it was said that the code was sworn by crossing guns or swords or with the hand supported on a human skull, in most cases the Bible was used to approve the regulations. So Johnson summed up the hacker code.
I. All men have the right to vote and to fresh food and spirits.
II. The spoils shall be distributed individually and in an orderly manner.
III. You can't play in exchange for money on cards or dice.
IV. The lights and candles will be turned off at 8 p.m.
5. Guns and swords must be clean and ready to fight.
VI. Children and women are not allowed on board.
7. The escape of the ship or the closure of the ship in the war will be punished by the death or abandonment of the offender on an island.
VIII. The fight is prohibited on board. Hostilities will be resolved on land with sword or pistol.
IX. To abandon this life you have to leave a thousand francs on the boat.
10. The captain and the intendent shall receive two parts of the bott; the master, the boatman and the canaller, part and a half; the rest of the officers, part and fourth.
11. Musicians will rest on Saturdays.
The oldest code that has come to us is Captain Henry Morgan. It is particularly interesting because it specifies salaries and allowances. Carpenters usually received 150 reais; physicians received 250. Those who lost their right leg were given 500 reais or five slaves; the left was worth 100 reais – or a slave – less. Each eye and every lost finger was worth 100 reales.La regulations attributed to the captains
Edward Low and George Lowther is 1722. The most curious novelty of this code is that the first one that saw a boat on the horizon had the right to choose the best gun.
In 1724, the captain of the ship, John Phillips Revenge, took into account non-smokers and women. Those who smoked without wrapping in their tent would receive 39 beatings of punishment and those who forced the woman to have sex without the consent of the victim, the death.
In general, those contracts were pioneering. They first spread among the Corsaries and in the 19th century they reached merchant ships “legal”. But the distribution of benefits was already much more unequal.

Thinking about literary classics necessarily means thinking from today. It is precisely the classical name that is conditioned to the fact that these works have come to this day, so to think about them is to think about how and why those works have come to us, to ask how and for... [+]
It is said that Simone de Beauvoir wrote that the oppressor would not be so strong if he did not have complicit in the lines of the oppressed. It seems very normal to me... What do you want? When you're down, it's also understandable that you want to improve your condition, and... [+]
Autobiography writing is, they say, the most effective tool for personal development, the most liberating. Pulling things away from the past and remembering them, it seems that it helps unleash the knots of the present. Yes, it helps to understand the present and to draw a... [+]
