The Altxatu group consists of three young people from Lumbier (Navarra), Iker Ariz, Ibai Osinaga and Julen Abaurrea. They're very young, they're only 14-15 years old, but they already have a record in the street.
They play the punk rock with guitar, bass, drums and voices. They obviously like The Ramones, The Clash, Hertzainak and the groups of the so-called Basque radical rock of the 1980s.
They've created a powerful melody, very appropriate to listen aloud. The album is very well recorded and the production is also fine. The whole album can be easily heard, and when we hear the songs, the head moves without realizing it, at the rhythm of the songs.
Those who are raised easily convey their concerns and concerns to us. In the words they have dealt with political and social issues. Among other things, they will talk about the independence of the Basque Country, the crisis, racism, the need to raise their heads and the desire to fight.
They've gathered ten songs for their first album. The group sings in Basque, but in the song "don't stop fighting" they have used Spanish, and in the song "the Future is Unwritten", English. This last song was composed by Joe Strummer (The Clash).
They have also engraved the Irunberri-Lumbier theme that the saxophonist and composer Josetxo Goia-Aribe composed to enaltecer Lumbier, and have translated into Basque the theme You’re Wondering Now from the English group The Specials, entitled Galdezka zara.
In addition to recording these ten songs, they have created an audiovisual work, a video clip with the theme 'Music in the veins'. Aitor Remon, from the Leihotikan group, has been in charge of recording the video clip.
They play songs very easily, very safely and without any embarrassment. They don't seem to be so young. And even if it sounds like a lie, if you have experience, you've already made several numbers in public, most of them in Navarra. It is clear that they know how to make songs and that they have worked a lot at their place. They play nice melodies and the songs have freshness, honesty and credibility.
Iker, Ibai and Julen created Altxatu in 2010. At first they started playing like a game, but at the same time they started playing on the stage, they were taken more seriously and more willingly.
After meeting Javier Etxeberria, guitarist and singer of the Vendetta group, they decided to record his first album with him. Engraved at Etxeberria's own house, Altxatu's first record has been sealed by the Gor record.
It is clear that music is now more than a game for the three members of the Altxatu group, who feel music in the heart. “Music in life, music in veins”, as they say in Music in veins.
