PP voters also reject the abortion bill
- The reform of the abortion law that the Government of Spain intends to approve has generated many criticisms, also within pp. In Hego Euskal Herria there have been mobilizations and protests of calm and disobedience against this aggression.
"Are you in favor of leaving the abortion bill as it is today or are you in addition to the reform proposed by Minister Alberto Ruiz Gallardón? ", asked Sigma Dos in a survey for the Spanish newspaper El Mundo. 73.5% of respondents ask for the law not to be touched, including 52.9% of pp voters.
Among those surveyed, only 16.6% were in favor of the new abortion law in the Basque Country. Among those who voted in favour of Rajoy, less than a third agree with the reform (31.5%).
Regarding the age groups, among those over 65 years the rejection rate is 57.9% and among the younger the percentage increases. 84.3% of young people aged between 18 and 29 reject this measure.
Feminists call on Basque institutions to disobey
The decision of the Government of Spain to limit women’s rights is being controversial by the Spanish Executive. The feminist movement in Euskal Herria has asked the regional administrations not to implement the reform, arguing that this removes women the right to decide.
In the multitudinous appearance of December 31 at the Hospital de la Cruz, members of the feminist movement explained that legal reform turns women into “passive victims”. About 70 people tried to be locked up at the Hospital de Cruces in Bilbao, but the Ertzaines threw them "with great violence", according to the same sources. In Pamplona, the Hospital Virgen del Camino involved Elena Lakabe, a member of the Commission for Abortion of Navarra. He denounced the reform of the abortion law and advocated the right to decide, the right to decide. “Only the rich will be able to abort in good condition. It’s a shame.” For this reason, he asked the neighbors to go to the streets to carry out a police operation. Several people stayed outside the building despite not letting them spend the night at the Donostia Hospital in San Sebastian.
Protests to stay on the net
Opponents have opened a blog on the Right to Abortion abortatzekoeskubidea.blogspot.com.es with the aim of criticizing abortion reform and organizing protests in Catalonia. The event received calls for mobilizations, as well as photos and videos of the protests.
In addition, they have created the Facebook page Right to Abortion and on Twitter the user @Abortion Eskubideak. On Twitter, they have asked citizens to use the hashtag #Abortatzeko Eskubideak (Right to abortion). Among the users, the #Abortualibre label has also been extended.
