Only poetry can't

I was asked for an urgent comment for the Rainbow Supplemental of Deia on the poetry of Izagirre, and when I read that I still live in Paris a third of the latter, the interior made me a thing, an emotion, which led me to the times when I read the kingdom of so-called mills, to the militancy in which we began to recognize that poetry had a function. I wrote: “Like our voice in exile, I think Joseba Sarrionandia, Koldo Izagirre…” And I reaffirm those words in Paris, where I've ended and closed with sorrow, the pure sky and the cold sun, and I say again, Izagirre's letter has a special music, is strong and soft, and unappealable to consensus.
As only poetry cannot conquer hearts and consciences, Izagirre turns the stories into poems and manifests of our time, either in verses, in words without measure or as an article.
It uses San Sebastian as a metaphor for this beginning of the century. Architecture describes the time of the hypocrites that have triumphed over urbanism, where the appearance does not want the essence, where the tourist wants to find the same thing anywhere. It tells us of an 8eme arrondissement of the Cantabrian cornice that is ashamed of the need, therefore, to be careful, that we have not yet reached the end of the story: “If no one else approaches, I know that the primary plants have not improved on the sidewalks, but on the burnt roads that we have damaged the shoes.”
Izagirre has chosen a careful language for this topography, away from excessively poetic poetry and from realistic rigidity. The Basque language of the book is almost a language at the service of this intermediate virtue, which moves away from the exemplary Basque evil and reminds us of the tone with which we really spoke in Euskera. The reading is sweet and the book is outstanding; it is moving by its forms, by its richness and flexibility in Euskaldun. Thanks to this language it becomes the pure rubber of the tire without wheels, the “empty eye tire”, and in the very key of poetry the expression of the verb: “The heart does not always walk the same heart.”
Izagirre wishes from the autonomy of the writer his strength to reinforce the new paradigms. We want the illusion of an extensive literature cultured through the pages, using Eurrez-Eurrez, as imagination, knowledge of the people. By means of poetry, poetry itself will be overcome by society through contradictions.
