Although it was quite clear, there is not a conflict in our people, but many conflicts. Broad conflicts that directly affect many people. Today, I do not believe that there is a single citizen free of conflict.

What conflicts are these? For many, but the last, and unfortunately the ones that will last a long time, are, among others, the judicial bankruptcy of the Parot doctrine; the consequences of the limitation of the ultraactivity of collective agreements; the crisis of the Fagor Appliance Cooperative.

All three are in the media every day and all three will be decided, in part, in the courts. Why this? Is this good? Or bad? Either good, not bad. Maybe convenient. Or it's absolutely harmful.

That can be it, yes. Depending on the nature and evolution of each conflict. Sometimes they are conflicts arising from the justice itself: this has happened with the Parot doctrine; a thesis invented by the courts sparked a tremendous legal debate, for two reasons: on the one hand, because it was a judicial response to a political impulse; and on the other, because the law turned to the limit in violation of the human and constitutional rights of several people. One court complicated this matter and others did not correct it, especially serious in the case of the Constitutional Court. And another court, far from the hand of the Spanish State, has had to put an end to this shameful doctrine. Now, the National Court has the unbeatable opportunity to follow common and non-exceptional criteria: it started well when Inés del Río and Juan Manuel Píriz were released; let us hope that it will continue down that road and that all people who are still imprisoned for the application of that doctrine will be immediately released and will not allege the violation of fundamental rights in response to a new political impulse.

The second fat conflict this autumn was announced. We knew a year and a half ago that the outrage of collective agreements was limited. That would be one year since the denunciation of the Convention, so many conventions would lose their validity on St. Fermín's day this year. As a result, employers and their associations have started to alter working conditions in many cases and, of course, trade unions have brought this conflict to the courts. In this case, the action of the courts is mandatory to solve the problem generated by the law and to decide which working conditions will be applied in each area and company. However, this conflict has arisen precisely because the law does not close or end the reform definitively and has left the “dirty work” to others, that is, to the courts. Well, the existing issues will be addressed and soon, very soon, we will know what the answer of justice is and whether it is acceptable or not that the working conditions of women workers should be delayed in this way.

Finally, a new social conflict arises: Cooperative Fagor Appliances. In this case, there are issues that will be decided in the courts – it cannot be said that they are resolved – but not all. Because we have some deep work issues left: if we have to rethink the cooperative model, or how far it should go, how to respond within the cooperative group, which is social and not judicial work, that poverty is spreading everywhere, catching more and more people – that this conflict also belongs to society.
