The Alavesa company Tubacex, a manufacturer of stainless steel tubes and one of the world's leading producers in this area, has signed an agreement with the Government of Cantabria for the construction of a new plant in the village of Marina de Cudeyo, together with Santander. 100 kilometres from the Ayala Valley, based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Tubacex will begin a process of transformation of the pipes it produces in Álava. The new company could help to alleviate unemployment in this valley, which is more serious than the CAV average. The company has its registered office in Llodio, where it has a unemployment rate of 20.5%. We don't know how many jobs will be created, but we know that Tubacex has bought 10,000 square meters in the Marina de Cudeyo and booked 37,000 square meters.
Why did you choose Tubacex Cantabria? They say that the Government of Cantabria has offered low-cost land and promised the unions “social peace”, as well as lower salaries than those of Álava. Tubacex seeks to reduce wage costs and avoid labour conflicts in one way or another.
The Lakua Government, as manager of neo-liberalism, through the Employment Minister, said: “Euskadi should be more attractive not to repeat cases like Tubacex.” And he adds: “Labor conflicts are bad for the economy, for companies, for workers too.” In other words, to make “the Basque Country more attractive”, workers should not protest, nor make demands or strikes, and should give up class consciousness. Trade unions should ensure “social peace”. Every day, Tubacex will dismantle the facilities of Aiala, which foresees many square meters in Cantabria, and the workers will be the culprits. The culprit is the savage and predatory capitalism that seeks maximum profit at the lowest cost. And for that he asks for a guarantee of “social peace”… That’s just in cemeteries!
