In Zaldibar (Bizkaia) almost half, 46%, knows Basque. 22% use it on the street and 27% at home. All children in the village are enrolled in model D. Zaldibar has no special characteristics, as is the case in other towns, there are far more speakers than those who know Euskera.
However, the City of Zaldibar, in collaboration with Elhuyar Aholkularitza and the citizens, has developed the Euskera Plan for the next four years, with the aim of reducing the gap between use and knowledge. The plan has two main objectives: to prestigious the Basque country and to extend it to all areas.
