Landscapes are transformed overnight. The beautiful becomes something terrible and the terrible becomes something beautiful. Also human animals: there will be those who retire in search of their peace and also those who go in search of their prey. The tiredness of the day does not allow it to be concealed at the last hour of the night. Stories that bring love, conspiracy and sabotage into the veins. Old songs and poems, versions and expressly prepared for the performance. Melancholy has its rage. And cholera was still melancholic. Like a painter who starts from a black stain on the tongue, and then looks like something. In the evening and in the heart of darkness, Joxan Goikoetxea, Petti and Harkaitz Cano will meet in that atmosphere on 4 May. The latter has detailed the show.

Poets and musicians have always twinned with the night, with the mystique of the night. Can you also have the show ‘Gau-beranan’?

It's a topic in part, but there's that idea. The first humorous question of Joxan Goikoetxea, as soon as the three of us got to the table, was that: “What are we going to do, something nocturnal, lyrical pastors poems, happy...?” You don't ask me why, but the three of us looked in the face and suddenly decided that we would stay at night ... There's that epic of the Parranda, which is sometimes false, and there's that ode of those who get tired of working home: it's time to do a bedtime review, look back and face what's coming. Rest and insomnia, calm and concern, both are nights. That's the tone: the peace of the night on the one hand and the ghosts on the other.

Viewers will hear texts and songs written by hand or are you based on your previous poems and songs?

There will be everything: written on purpose, unpublished and also old poems. Experience teaches me that many times you get a more beautiful atmosphere than from scratch when you rescue yourself from your favorite songs and poems. This seems like a land on which it's easier to improvise and add. The same applies to songs: some will be known, others new, and unexpected versions will be heard, especially adapted for the occasion.

How did this opportunity emerge to work the three together? Maybe it's the first time.

This is the first time that Joxeanjel Arbelaitz has participated in the debate on peace and coexistence in the Basque Country. Thanks to men like him, who easily do what our shame can erase and hinder.

I knew Joxan Goikoetxea from before, but although he was an admirer of Petti's song, we didn't know each other. It's a luxury for me to deal with these scenic beasts.

Three artists on the stage. What will be the role that each of them will play in ‘Night and Afternoon’?

In the dynamics of several disciplines, the most interesting thing is to attract the other to his own ground, and let himself go to the ground of the other, without anyone losing his personality, in a kind of sweet magnetization ... You can generate tension, because one part of the control is left in the hands of the other, but that's the challenge. Joxan Goikoetxea is a skilled creator of atmosphere, a master of nuances, and Petti is a singer who does not need adornments: besides singing, he can recite the text beautifully.
