Francesco Tonucci, Italian psychopedagogue, raises the need to rethink the city from the eyes of the children in his book haurren hiria. In times when it is unthinkable for many to go from home to school alone and on foot, it is necessary an urbanism that favors the autonomy of children. The city that is proposed for children is valid for everyone, for the elderly, the disabled, immigrants. As this approach is spreading among the educational actors, we have analysed the need for collaboration between the people and the school from four areas. On the one hand, we have brought forward the book Haurren hiria, which has just been translated into Basque. On the other hand, Maria Luisa Jaussi, an expert in the learning school model, has explained how to carry out the involvement of all the people so that children can succeed in school. In the context of the Basque Country, Eneko Barberena and Aizpea Otxandiano, from the Txatxilipurdi association that promotes leisure activities in the town so that the use of the Basque Country follows the knowledge guaranteed by the school, have told us the experience of Arrasate. Finally, Pierre Pinque, elected by Barkoxe and Naiara Sampedro, Councilwoman of Education of Donostia-San Sebastián, have claimed the importance of the school for the child to be able to live in their village.
