Curiosity (I)
In the etymology of pedagogy we have two explanations: the Greek “directing the child, channeling it” or the Latin pedaticum, “toll or toll”. Who pays, who crosses the toll or who is left behind? What is the expenditure? Who loses it? What is the real dimension of this loss? Learning to understand the loss of others and calculating the cost of that understanding can be a kind of pedagogy of imagination. Imagination also shows us the pain of others.
Schooling now means guiding children on the direct paths created by our society. The concept of de-schooling is not opposed to schooling. Ivan Illich explains: not to leave education only in the hands of the school, but to extend it throughout life. If we look at all areas of life from this prism, we find their folds more complex, because we do not leave our children in one direction to pedagogy. This can also cause pain, because in the center of life and knowledge there is also pain. And you can't understand the pain and loss without the enjoyment that they can produce. With imagination, of course.
