Arantxa Iturbe owns a thin list of literary works. Perhaps because it dedicates the most important hours to radio – every afternoon, every week, on public radio in Euskera. Perhaps because it gives the columnist the freest hours – publishes an article in a single Basque newspaper every Sunday. And yet, Arantxa Iturbe owns a thin list of literary works. Despite its thinness, it has an interesting list of literary works.
His first collection of stories dates back to 1992. Gorka Bereziartua was in charge of liquidating the book in this same space. Among other things, he recognized his status as “best-seller” –“18. with the red corpiño of “edition”, but pointed out differences – and strengths – with respect to the best-selling book model internationally. In this way, we could say that Iban Zaldua complied with what in his blog he considers very difficult: to be both milky and obscene, with great sales – with as many quotes as you want to put – and, finally, with a high literary quality that I do not know, but with a sufficient literary quality, with which the criticisms also stand out. The
second collection of 1995 narratives, in which we speak of Before-Era late, has had many editions – the number of 2006 I have in my hands says it is the 6th edition. It has therefore been sold well. As far as literary quality is concerned, a relevant level must also be recognised. I mean, it's also milky and tasty. To quote again Zaldua, whom we have already talked about, he said that he was ever interested in Basque literature and, above all, in Basque narratives. And the scant 95 critics also got it right, to the point where they said it looked like the successful Goenkale television show. But the most important thing for us: That in 2013 the stories here are read to taste, which keep current news fresh.
In fact, they focus on human relationships that have changed little over time: between men and women, between husband and wife, between lovers, friends, between parents and children. The family, in the broadest sense, captures its circumstances with a severe, attentive, often impassive look. Humor is another characteristic to be highlighted, the thin one. And finally, language has nothing decorated, but that's not why it falls into frivolity.
Mom! The list of literary works by Arantxa Iturbe is composed of a thin but interesting series. Cheering to write in those hours that leave the most complete and the most free hours, it may be a lot to ask.
