A new view of tradition, with txistu

Txistulari has fulfilled a dream that seemed unattainable. With this project that has lasted two years, surpassing with enthusiasm and courage the difficulties, it faces the challenge of playing with a symphony orchestra. It is to applaud the effort made and the result achieved, because it has really presented us with a very nice piece of work. The interpretation of GARIKOITZ Mendizabal has put the Txistu at the top, demonstrating a very special skill for this instrument that we are currently dealing with easily. The talent of the Txistulari can be compared to the other musicians of the orchestra, and it is clear that it has the merit of being a soloist. On the album
Txistu symphonic, works of the musicians Solozabal, Guridi, Bastida, Olaizola and Ansorena have been gathered, all belonging to the traditional repertoire of txistu. Mendizabal’s main objective has been to gather the pieces that will be played by local and foreign orchestras in the future. In the recording
we can listen to many musical styles such as dances, melodies and variations or precious pieces of the Basque songwriter. The rich original melodies have had a special touch thanks to the interpretation of the Txistulari and the spectacular sonority of the orchestra. Even though most songs are known, the same level of attention is maintained as the one you're going to hear for the first time. It keeps you alert from the first compass to the last note and there is an atmosphere that will surprise you. Among the eleven songs presented by

highlighted the work of the conductor. The tolosarra set up in Munich, Enrique Ugarte, has demonstrated his professionalism and has bravely fulfilled his role as director. It is also noteworthy the work of the sound technician Mikel F.Krutzaga, which has largely been the recording and mixing work that has helped to round the final result.
Txistulari is a nearby musician. For all kinds of celebrations, the dantza group will have rhythm in the pasacalles with giants and heads, in the target of Sunday morning or in the opening of a corporate act. It is known that one of the oldest instruments still surviving among the Basques continues to ignite the corners of the Basque Country.
Following tradition, Garikoitz Mendizabal is exploring new paths in the evolution of the Txistu. With this album, he invites us to look at what is known from another point of view.
