WRITTEN PRESS:
Journalist Edu Lartzanguren has written for about five years several tertulias in the agenda section of the Berria newspaper. From the very beginning, the news decided to publish interviews on the agenda of events and before it several colleagues worked on it. Lartzanguren is considered “omnivorous” and refers to musical, theatrical performances, conferences, dance exhibitions, audio-visual and other events to be held the following day in Euskal Herria. The daily rhythm is more an adventure than a limit: “Many times it forces me to enter a land that I don’t know and to discover, suddenly, that a subject has always interested me a lot.”
He has already conducted between 500 and 600 interviews and is collecting them on the blog igogailua.blogspot.com. Once they have all met, the group has chosen about thirty of them to be published in a textbook.
RADIO: Portobello Programme, Euskadi Irratia
The listeners of the Basque Country Irratia each night join in Portobello the most recent music at the international level. Asier Leoz, speaker of the broadcaster, has been performing the program on antenna since 2009. Besides putting the songs on the one-hour program, it offers information on records, musicians and festivals. In these times when music is available to everyone, Leoz strives to complete it and make her speech.
Although the voice broadcaster’s tastes have a lot to do with the choice of music, Leoz makes a selection of the most interesting, not limited to melodies that have a lot of space in the media. Music lover, has the habit of reading magazines, reviewing blogs and talking to musicians and amateurs. “The huge expansion of the network in recent years also helps to discover an immense ocean,” he says. It seeks quality without ever forgetting the relativity of this concept.
TELEVISION: Azpimarra Programme, ETB1
Maddalen Iriarte's daily space is linked to the present day, especially to politics and the economy. The midnight programme started three years ago and is also broadcast on Tuesday night Azpimarra +, with an hour and a half of duration each day. Iriarte believes that the longest sessions have given the programme – and the chain – the opportunity to secure political debate and a deep vision of the economy. For a while, however, it was not possible to bring together representatives of all political parties: "We couldn't interview anyone from the Abertzale left, and it often seemed to me that the Abertzale left was news. I am interested in the Abertzale left as news”.
The lack of knowledge of the language has also left some interviews in Emphasize pending. In the opinion that the institutionalization of the Basque Country has pushed less than it should, this impulse should involve interlocutors who are at all times able to speak in Basque on any subject: “There are no and there are conversations that are not possible.”
INTERNET: Websites Bertsoa.com and Dantzan.com
In 2006 they also believed that cultural activities need their own communication projects Bertsoa.com. Thousands of musical performances, bertsos, bertsolarism news and live performances have served to reflect on the future presence of bertsolarism on the net. “According to data from several websites on Bertsolarism, Bertsolarism will have between 75,000 and 100,000 users a year, and about 500,000 visits to the festival. If we are able to articulate this network community, an own medium developed by Bertsolarism itself will have the same ability to broadcast and audience as any television,” says Jexux Mari Irazu, the web manager.
The reason for the creation of the website Dantza.com was to provide information and communication about dance and to create a space to share news, concerns, opinions, debates and reflections of dantzaris. It has been a decade since its creation and, according to Oier Araolaza, “if it works it is because there is a community of dantzaris and dancers who make their contributions and give life to the web”. In fact, it is a modest area and only one person is in charge of its maintenance.
ADVERTISING: Short film Denbora, Herrira
The prisoner walked into the room and looked out of the window closed with bars. Today he receives the visit of the couple and, in the end, a warm hug that has waited so long. Worry about knowing how the trip has gone. A photo of old friends, hidden in the visitor's belly, you can see for a short time. His father is the prisoner, meets a newborn baby, tickles him on the knife, but all in the same room with dirty walls. Because despite the passage of time, the prisoner is still captive. And it has a clear message for visitors: “Go to Bilbao and fill the streets. Fill the streets to empty the jails.”
This year Herrira announced a massive demonstration in favour of the Basque prisoners on 12 January with a short film reflecting the passage of the years of the prisoner. Lander Garro has led Denbora, and said that we need to know the political and communicative strategies of today and know how to integrate the discourse into them.
MERIT AWARD: Basque Country Irratia, 30 years
On November 23, 1982, the first broadcast of the Basque Country Irratia took place, which issued EiTB Radio Euskadi. The director of the Basque Country Irratia, Felipe Juaristi, believes that since then radio and the Basque community have evolved quite at once. In his view, today radio listening habits have changed and morning programmes have become an informative reference.
In these years, the way we do radio has also changed: “The first big change was to move from analog to digital.” The expansion of the Internet and new technologies have made the programmes heard at any time and anywhere. “In the future, radios will become multimedia. We are multimedia, we have many content on the Internet. The cameras need to be included in the studies and that will also be done,” Juaristi predicted. Adapting programming and combining it with technology is now one of the challenges of Euskadi Irratia.
Euskaraldia comes back. Apparently, it will be in the spring of next year. They have already presented it and the truth is that it has surprised me; not Euskaraldia himself, but his motto: We'll do it by moving around.
