In recent days, the Spanish Tax Agency has filed a serious complaint against a machine-tool company linked to an Abertzale family in Durango (Bizkaia). Television, radio and newspapers, including international ones, have solemnly disseminated the news, with its corresponding photographs. However, the media have been silent when the company has officially denied the complaint. The company, called Ona Electroerosion, is accused of "smuggling with Iran", which aims to "promote nuclear proliferation in the Republic of Iran". The Agency, under the Ministry of Finance, assured that the Durango company, to overcome the blockade ordered by the UN, “used the business intermediary created by the Iranian buyer in Turkey.” The Agency also considered that the illegal operation could involve prison sentences and money fines for the Durango company.
The Durango company has denied all accusations against the two defendants. In their view, machinery has been exporting for years, with the necessary permits. He also points out that the material sold "has nothing to do with" the organization's nuclear objectives. And finally, he says that he has no relationship whatsoever with the hidden company of Turkey. Why is the Tax Agency now being shut down? Why are the media that so solemnly opened up the indictment silent? Who will assume the economic costs and loss of image of the company? It seems that this sad story has more to do with political interests than with reality, and that the Abertzale company Ona Eletroerosion has been another political victim of the Spanish Government.
