From Copyright to Creative Commons

In recent years we have taken steps towards the release of content and from now on, the contents of Argia will be published under the Creative Commons Recognition - Share license. As a result, any person will be able to take, modify, copy and publish the material as long as its author is Argia. Whether it's books, blogs, Wikipedia, TV shows or other media. We wanted to make a contribution to Euskera and Basque culture, with the aim of contributing to the dissemination of content.

Renovated face

The homepage of the website will undergo a major change. Taking ideas from the most referential international media, we have prepared a website tailored to the Light, with a structure that will allow us to grow in the chosen direction. The reader will see that the web is clearer, that it will have more sections, such as the survey pages and discussions that until now we did not have, that we will be able to play with the size of the photos or, depending on the importance of the news, we will also be able to adapt the size of the headlines. The new tool will also facilitate the mobility of the elements of the web so that all journalistic work is developed and presented as professionally as possible.

We have paid special attention to the accessibility of the contents and from 3 December it will be possible to read the most interesting information on the cover page, it is not necessary to expressly enter the weekly section to read the weekly reports and interviews.

Thematic specialised channels

However, the most important decision taken in the future has been the structuring of information. From now on, the content will be as decisive as the way in which the information is classified. Although we will keep the distribution based on the existing way, that is, the weekly articles, the multimedia elements, for their part, the news we write for argia.eus, and the blogs, finally, we will start classifying the articles from the point of view of content.

We will establish a system of specialised channels in which we will gather all the information – whether documentaries or weekly reports –. For example, we will have major topics such as internationalization, politics, culture and the economy, but also the crisis of the euro, the Basque country in Navarre, stateless nations, transgenics or channels on children's literature, to name a few, to respond to audiences with different points of interest.

We live in high speed times, and although after all everything remains on the net, we thought it was important to work on the storage function so that in future we will be able to look back on specific issues and also make a closer reference to specific issues. Each channel will have an RSS feed and we will create specialized social media channels to facilitate the monitoring of the themes.

Strengthen blogs

Three years ago, the Argia team started taking its first steps in the blogging world. Since then, we have travelled the way on blogs and we want to take advantage of the new web to delve into a world that offers a more flexible way of working journalism. So we'll change the image of the blogs, redefine the blogs of the journalists, and define more themes.

We will also have seven new bloggers in our community: Axier López, Kike Amonarriz, Miel Anjel Elustondo, Irati Sarasua, Montse Auzmendi, Julen Leuza and Gorka Azkarate. There will be more.

Open media channel

We will also make a number of new developments in the Multimedia section. A new section is added to the specials of Web Television, Documentaries, Short Films, Photography, Diaporamas, Events and Montajes: Popular videos. This section aims to be the meeting point of the videos made by the public on their own initiative, a reference space where they can see all kinds of works.

On the other hand, it details what has been the Videos section so far. Currently there are 340 elements and to facilitate the consultation, we will differentiate the sections Interviews and Reports.
