Gabriel Korta gathered at headquarters the works of the Fourth Edition of 2010 and rewrote them. Through this book I came to the old Isiletik (Ustela, 1980), Okarana (Susa, 1986) and Harri hautsiak (2002), who made up these three and the new Testimony a kind of poet review, a point and a continuum in a healthy and always free path. So some shapes seemed to me something old. And also in this book. In essence, what Korta seeks is a discursive rhythm in order to express things, feelings, experiences in a precise and faithful way. Both then and now, the monologue is a delightful moment: black and white, light and gloomy, justice and darkness.

What is being a poet? The writer finds it a mystery to be a poet. Sometimes Korta has seemed to me to be a road demonstrator where concepts as powerful as the artist, sometimes a philosopher, have one of his signs of identity and his ease of asking big questions. Snow in shorts, almost entirely, circulates around loneliness. It is written in solitude, illustrated in solitude by the author himself. He acknowledges and appreciates the help of his friend Iñaki Bastarrika, and it is to be assumed that he would have had the advice of taking it away, adding it from there, and turning to someone who has not been entirely finite. In this sense, the book's silent and patient craftsmanship stands out. Some universal and poetic concerns, despite their relative character, love and freedom, have been strongly chiselled: “Freedom in part is solitude./ And hatred goes wrong to the solitaire./ Freedom seems to me a beautiful responsibility.” “Crazy words/ not worth./ I have a bad reputation,/ but I am free./ Because I love myself;/ I went crazy,/ that’s it.” If lyrical is tired, we

may be able to seek refuge in this poetry and in empty words written with the intention of changing the world. In any case, as I read the Snow in short shorts, it has occurred to me that the poetry of thought may not be the essence, but yes the form, the forms become too heavy. In the end, personal taste is made to certain tastes: I prefer other less serious forms, also for meditation.
