We are engaged in the debate on the rescue of the Spanish bank, which is being used for some EUR 100 billion from the European Union and from the International Monetary Fund. The rescue will not be free. Because those who leave that money, in addition to returning it, are asking for interest. They have also called for more social cuts, to be paid by citizens, to ensure that they are charged "the loan" and that they are not charged. Administrations, including those in the Basque Country, are also rescuing large companies, reducing taxes to pay and offering more deductions. That's what they've done with Iberdrola. It will not be the first or the last. Banks, savings banks – in some cases brought to bankruptcy by their managers – and even large companies, can enjoy “rescues”.
Who is going to rescue the citizens? Who is going to rescue 50% of unemployed youth? Who is going to rescue the thousands of retirees living with a bagatela? Who is going to rescue the dependent people who often live from family sacrifice? Who is going to rescue those who live below the poverty line? We must only expect unemployment, poverty, individualism, egoism and injustice from the capitalist system. A fair, supportive and alternative system is needed, created by the working class and the popular classes of each people. It is known that France and Spain, with their economic policies, are charging Euskal Herria. We need, among other things, a Basque public bank to channel investment into strategic sectors in order to secure employment and the welfare state. Kutxabank is not going in that direction. We will only be rescued by the Basques who respect our well-being and our sovereignty.
