The film Gazta zati bat will be one of the great fruits given by the people of Idiazabal. The will of a people – the right to decide what and how they want to be – the fundamental right, on the other hand, is the leitmotiv of this film. That's what the whole movie revolves around, but let's see what trajectory the cheese village has had to go through. Ángel Oiarbide is the one who has had and has driven this idea. He first tried to gather forces at the local level in this campaign for the right to decide, bringing together people of different political ideologies. And that project paid off in the people: they analysed the actions of other countries defending the right to decide (Quebec and Scotland), especially the latter. Subsequently, channels of communication were opened with Scottish politicians and also with the general public. As a result, a large group of Idiazabal, some eighty people, moved to Scotland and organised a great event and a great party in which politicians and citizens came together. Afterwards, a large Scottish group was brought to the Basque Country, with the presence of the people and politicians. And most beautifully, these two old peoples expressed their folklore, rural sport, music, solidarity and vitality in a peaceful and playful way. The efforts of these two old European peoples to preserve their traditions and ways of life are moving.
It is a simple, unpretentious, authentic film, and the most authentic one is Luis, the pastor. The pastor's character magnifies this simple film with the ability of subtle and unfolded characters to surprise everyone. Finally, the piece of cheese by Pastor Luis will reach the United Nations, claiming that our people want to be in that organization as a free people.
This project, called the World of Nations, has already been extended to the Goierri. The people of Idiazabal have offered us a great model to realize that when there is a good country project, we must first believe in it, then concentrate our forces above the ideology and political possibilities of each one and, above all, put such strong and clear guides as Ángel in the direction of such an initiative.
The film shook you with the most intimate fibers and in the end it leaves you a good taste of mouth with the thought “All this is possible, to carry out the will”.
