Capitalism, which speaks through its political managers – regional and central governments on duty – and its media spokesmen, is afraid of popular mobilizations, strikes, demonstrations, concentrations, camps and popular assemblies. That is why the grass-roots and the workers are trying to find ways of preventing and preventing the street from being occupied. If they are not prohibited, the legal time limits for holding a demonstration, assembly or camping are restricted and those who are participating in it are arrested. The street, for capitalism and its managers, is theirs and they want to impose their conditions and criteria. Faced with this situation, the grass-roots and the workers should occupy the streets permanently to denounce the barbarism of capitalism and the political collaboration of its managers (governments), as well as to design alternatives based on solidarity.
We must welcome the mobilisations launched by the social groups in Euskal Herria, which are against the social cuts brought about by the crisis of financial capitalism. There is money to save banks from bankruptcy, from bad management, from speculative usury, but not for health, education, to deal with dependency or to create decent jobs. Last weekend and next, the four capitals of Hego Euskal Herria have been occupied – and will be occupied – by thousands of people, convened by 50 Basque social groups and trade unions. The aim is to denounce the cuts in social services, employment and salaries that have taken place. They will also mobilise against public administrations that will cynically ensure that they will bring those cuts to the courts of justice. These administrations should at least use the “foral licence” and not apply the restrictions. The occupation of the street while they are engaged in cynicism and hypocrisy will be a right and a duty
