A small exercise: take white paper and in an interval of two or three minutes answer the following question: Why is linguistic diversity beneficial?
The short space for writing has passed. How are you? Have favourable arguments been leaked to your mind? Have you been comfortable? The truth
is that I asked him about his attitude in favour of linguistic diversity, although, of course, it could be otherwise. But if so, and if your position is favorable to plurality, it may be based on solid and deep motives, or it may be built around a strong but a little intuitive feeling. Or that they both occur at the same time. Or neither, and it's just a weak idea that the wind could easily bring.
In fact, it often happens to us that we are in favour of a strong idea, and that when it comes to defending it, we don't know where to throw it. We often sell ideas at purchased price, and what we have received in a more or less uncritical and superficial way we sell it in the same way. However, when the “buyer” receives us with rigor and anguish, then comedy.
And maybe the mistake or the lack isn't found in that idea, but in ourselves, specifically in the way we get too easily and accept the ideas. How easy we have to think or "believe" in something.
If an idea seems to us to be good, strong, fair and important, I think it is worth shaking a couple of shakes, looking ahead, behind, inside and outside, and, if we also then consider it good, strong and important, betting on it and moving on.
To feel intuitively that maintaining linguistic diversity is appropriate and beneficial, for example, can be enough for oneself and perhaps necessary, but if we want to draw attention to its benefit to others and not to those in their environment, we must offer something beyond our intuition and our good feeling, awakening in them reasons and feelings that have a minimum foundation, and making the necessary journey and taking strength in society. I believe that we have sufficient support for this, but we should not think that it is so obvious and obvious to everyone.
