The book Facing the chair by John Dos Passos, 1927, is a reaction to the unfair judgment of Sacco and Vanzetti. Until now, it has not been published in Spanish, as highlighted by the editorial in a statement of more than necessary. “This important work” and “undoubtedly forms an exciting text” and... What does the book tell to deserve so much garland from outside Christmas?

No less than for anyone who has read something about this case. I have had that feeling at the end of the book, which is not bad on the documentary side, but which could hardly have had a job for any 21st century Spanish publisher to translate and publish it, if not by Dos Passos. And not any Two Steps, neither the one that had been made to the right, nor the one that had begun to write, nor the one that had touched the wall, had been made to the right. Manhattan Transfer had just been published, but in the letters of EE.UU.

But I would say that this report of judicial abuse against two Italian-American anarchists lacks something, perhaps a lot of things. I would like to be a book that affectionately explains to those born in the United States how well immigrants have adapted to the "American way of life," a series of reasons that xenophobic prejudice in general would like to call into question, a manifesto against the fear they used to clean two innocent fries in a chair, but that the journalism chronicle of judgment is not very elaborate and that is sometimes eaten in a prisoner style.
