The political managers of the Basque parliaments and municipalities are already changing. Once again, the question of compensation for the politicians who are heading, especially in large municipalities and foreign parliaments, has come to light. To find out the situation, the example of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa is that the Deputy General receives EUR 88,136 per year. Upon leaving office, he receives compensation of EUR 7,344.67. If you remain unemployed (up to 12 months), you will receive €2,937,87 per month, so the maximum amount to be paid would be €42,599,11 per month. The Junters and Directors-General charge EUR 79,769 and EUR 72,245 per year, respectively, and will receive compensation of EUR 6,647,42 and EUR 6,020,42, as the case may be. As long as they remain unemployed (up to a maximum of 12 months), they will receive EUR 2,658,97 and EUR 2,408,17 per month, with a total of EUR 38,555,06 and EUR 34,918,46. Consequently, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has been forced to spend EUR 254,431,47 on compensation. If all of them were to remain unemployed, the figure would rise to EUR 891,394.
Moving this situation to the rest of the Members and to the large municipalities, as well as to the governments and parliaments of the CAPV and Navarra, it is possible to calculate the waste that is done to the public treasury. On the contrary, the workers of these entities, such as the Council of Gipuzkoa, are not entitled to compensation at the end of their employment contract and receive an unemployment benefit of between EUR 1,087 and EUR 1,297 per month.
It is shameful and scandalous that there should be labour discrimination of this kind in favour of politicians, who curtail the labour and social rights of workers. The new political managers, such as those of Donostia-San Sebastián and the Gipuzkoa Council, should apply from the outset, if they want to serve as an example, a new rule modifying the scandalous prebends given to politicians. Enough!

The other day I went to a place I hadn’t visited in a long time and I liked it so much. While I was there, I felt at ease and thought: this is my favorite place. Amulet, amulet, amulet; the word turns and turns on the way home. Curiosity led me to look for it in Elhuyar and it... [+]
