The results of 22 May clearly symbolised the winners and losers, but in the absence of an absolute majority, this does not necessarily free up the knot of governability. After the night of laughter and tears, the card game has begun, the question of respecting the majority, when it is lawful and when it can be stolen, and the question of taking position and asking. In addition, many parties, in the run-up to the autonomous elections, did not wish to reflect their intention to marry anyone, so as not to hinder the commitments now being made for future couples. In this matter, polygamy would not look so bad.

The municipal institutions are already constituted and although some brushes have been seen for the constitution of the General Boards, the knot has definitely been unleashed. The PSE-EE offered its support to the PNV in exchange for four municipalities, but it was actually in the spotlight Lasarte-Oria, as the PSE had only a majority in this town. The candidates from the PNV to Lasarte-Oria have voted for Bildu and together with the citizen platform have taken the mayor's seat from the PSE. There is more evidence of agreement than of a break in party discipline. The members of the Lanestosa PSE have indeed broken internal discipline, as the PSE has asked them to give their act of councillor no more than to vote for Bildu and to remove the mayor’s seat from the PNV. Beyond the local uniqueness, pp has voted in favour of the PNV in some municipalities with the intention of avoiding the municipal governments of Bildu and the PSE has complied with the threat that it would not vote for the PNV if there was no global agreement. We will not know to what extent the constitution of the City of Lasarte-Oria has conditioned the possible agreements of other municipalities.

The PNV has not fully clarified what position it will take in the investiture session of the MEP of Gipuzkoa for the forthcoming elections. What happened at Lasarte supports the idea that Gipuzkoa will have the Deputy General of Bildu, as he sees it difficult for the PNV candidate to seek support from the PSE and has been ratified by the leaders of the PSE after that of Lasarte. But in Elorrio, thanks to the support of pp, the PNV has been done with the mayor and at the moment we will not know if this is a limited fact. It seems that the card game is not over and since the start of the game we have been seeing different gestures with the intention of showing that there is still something to negotiate. It has begun to unravel on 11 June, but with the prudence that is so necessary in politics, it is best not to rule out that summer can still give us surprises, who knows.
